Mary Virginia Farrell's Obituary
Mary Farrell, 87, of Faulkner, Maryland, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 21, 1935 in La Plata, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Carlton Winfield Cooksey and Margaret Viola Cooksey. Mrs. Farrell was a teacher’s aide, working with the special needs children, with the Charles County Board of Education for many years before retiring. She was a champion for the mentally ill, the elderly, and the poor. Mrs. Farrell loved gardening, canning the family farm fresh food, sewing, especially children’s clothing. She and her husband farmed and raised six children. Mrs. Farrell was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Ignatius Chapel Point Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Webster Farrell; daughter Lois Virginia Carter; sisters Dorothy Elizabeth Gray and Marjorie Elizabeth Hancock.
Mrs. Farrell is survived by her daughters Alice Jean Farrell, Mary Jane Hancock and husband Keith, Susan Marie Boarman and her husband Bobby, Joyce Ann Warring and her husband Francis; son Thomas William Farrell and wife Donna; sister Margaret Alice Bryant; ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 9:30AM until time of Mass at 11AM at St. Ignatius Chapel Point Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, Maryland 20677.
Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
A reception will be held following the services at the cemetery at the Parish Hall at St. Ignatius Chapel Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Chapel Point Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, Maryland 20677 (please write in the memo line: Restore and Renew Capital Campaign).
