MICHAEL JEROME DAVIS's Obituary
Michael Jerome Davis was born on January 13, 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee, the firstborn child of the late Fred Lee Davis and Ella Josephine Singleton Davis. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 12. As a young child, he served diligently at the Beulah Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, where the Reverend W.C. Holmes was the Pastor. During his teenage years, Pastor Holmes prophesied before the congregation that someday he would preach the Gospel.
Michael was educated in the Memphis Public School System, graduating from Melrose High School in May 1976. Michael continued his post-secondary education at the historic Fisk University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration in 1980. After graduation, Michael began his business career working with his father at the Fred L. Davis Insurance Agency.
In November 1985, he enlisted as a reservist with the U.S. Army. Soon after, he discovered his calling as a police officer with the Prince George’s County Police Department. He served as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division. While serving in the Police Department, he was also detailed to the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). While working with the DEA, he was recognized for his outstanding contributions in the field of drug law enforcement, and he received other awards too numerous to mention. After retiring from the Police Department, he worked for the U.S. Marshall Service as a court security officer.
While actively engaged in his career, he met the love of his life, Adrienne LaMarr Morgan. Realizing God’s perfect will for his life, they were united in Holy matrimony on May 25, 2007. Michael and Adrienne loved each other immensely. Together they served in various ministries, counselled others in marriage and family mediation, and travelled internationally. They shared a mutual love for photography and compared photos that were taken during their world travels.
After faithfully serving as a member at Galilee Baptist Church, in Suitland, Maryland, he was licensed as a minister by Pastor Lloyd McGriff in 2004. He served in the Prison, Security, and Music Ministries. He also co-led the Singles ministry. He travelled to Mississippi on a mission’s trip to serve the underprivileged.
At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, Michael joined his future wife, Adrienne, in membership at the First Baptist Church of Glendarden (FBCG). He served in the Prison, Evangelism and Music Ministries. He was passionate about mentoring young men. He mentored young men in the Joshua’s Anointed Generation (JAG) Ministry, some of whom are currently serving as pastors. He and his wife served as facilitators in the Divorce Care ministry. Prior to serving in the Divorce Care Ministry, he was licensed as a minister of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden by Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr.
With the blessing from Pastor Jenkins, Minister Davis and his wife left FBCG to join Reverend Milton K. Holt, Sr. in his new ministry assignment as Pastor of the New Abundant Life Missionary Baptist Church, Fairmount Heights, Maryland. Under Pastor Holt’s leadership, in 2024, Minister Davis was ordained as Reverend Michael Jerome Davis. At NALMBC, he served as a role model to many men. On the first Saturday of every month, he was committed to ensuring that individuals in a nearby nursing home received a word of encouragement through teachings from the Bible. He worked as an alter counselor and taught Bible study. He also served in the Men’s ministry and the
Couples ministry. He also assisted Pastor Holt with various pastoral assignments.
Reverend Davis was extremely gifted and used his gifts to glorify God. He was an accomplished photographer, marriage counselor, mediator, and author. He wrote four books: “Do You See What I See?” (2010), “When God Speaks” (2021), “What Eve Wants to Hear from Adam” (2022), and “When I Hear Him” (2026). The most recent book that he published, “When I Hear Him,” is a collection of faith-based poetry that invites individuals into a relationship with God.
Reverend Davis always had a strong desire to serve in the church, his country, his community, and on the mission field. Most of all, he loved sharing and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Reverend Davis never met a stranger. Oftentimes, people were drawn to his authentic and magnetic personality. His love for God, service toward men, wit, and wisdom are all attributes we will always admire. He described himself as “Forever God’s Warrior.” Reverend Davis will live in our hearts forever, and he will be dearly missed by everyone.
He leaves to cherish his life and legacy: his loving and devoted wife, Adrienne; his sister Shelia Davis: his brother Marvin Davis (Lynn); Sisters-in-Love Karen Jenkins (Anthony Sr.), Cheri Johnson (Keefe), and Janet Morgan (Todd); Brother-in-Love Lloyd Guy, III (Tonya); and a host of other relatives and friends. Reverend Davis was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ella Davis.
