Mitchell Franklin Curtis Sr's Obituary
Mitchell Franklin Curtis Sr., 88, of New Carrollton, Maryland, passed away on November 7, 2020 at Loving Heart Assisted Living in Bowie.
Born on November 5, 1932 in Woodbridge, Virginia, he was the son of the late Halcom Curtis and Janet Curtis. A graduate of Lackey High School, Mr. Curtis actively played basketball, soccer and baseball. Mr. Curtis served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged in 1954. He started working for Steuart Petroleum as a Sales Representative and went up the ladder into management. Mr. Curtis was a life member of the American Legion Post in Cheverly and a Free Mason. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington Capital. As an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hyattsville, Mr. Curtis served as an Usher and was a member of the United Methodist Men.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Christine Bowling Curtis; daughter Kymberly Bowling Curtis.
He is survived by his children Mitchell Franklin Curtis II and Dona Allyson Curtis; two sisters Nancy Main and Martha Schmidt; one nephew Hal Curtis.
A private service and interment will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Mr. Curtis’ name to the Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area Chapter, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
