Rachel Wills' Obituary
Rachel R. Wills peacefully transitioned from her earthly life on October 6, 2017, at the Mary Washington Hospital in Fredricksburg, Virginia. She was born on May 29, 1934, as the 11th child (of 13 children) to the late Deacon Yellie Y. Warren and Deaconess Laura (Ross) Warren. Rachel was truly a woman of God and a devout practitioner of God's spiritual principles of love, faith, obedience, stewardship, and giving. These attributes were borne out early in her life as she honored and respected her parents, and embraced all of her twelve brothers and sisters. Rachel developed and shared these attributes beginning when she was educated throughout her primary, junior high, and secondary school years in the Charles County Public School system. Because there was no stopping Rachel, she continued the perfection of these attributes as she: 1) honed her musical craftsmanship and became a seasoned Pianist (and Psalmist), after being self-taught and initially playing with one finger; and 2) then became an expert in her profession as a Nursing Assistant, after attending the then Bowie State College. Rachel realized stellar careers with the Charles County Department of Social Services and the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center during which she earned countless awards and honors throughout her employment with each. Because Rachel also practiced God's principle of singleness in womanhood first, it was God-ordained when she joined, in matrimony, her passions for God and others with the late Joseph "Buck" Wills, for whom she loved unconditionally and shared every aspect of her life and love (even up until her transition process). In addition to loving, raising, and continuously guiding their own children, Rachel, becoming the Matriarch of the Warren Family, made her home, and family, the place of refuge for Lorraine (Warren) Johnson (Niece), Roger Lee Warren (Nephew), Eleonor Warren (Niece), and Robin Warren (Great Niece). Undoubtedly, Rachel was truly an anchor for her family, the Warren Family, and within her beloved community, Woodland Village. During the prime of her life, she committed herself and family to Woodland Village's prosperity, growth, and commitment to family values. Her commitment continued to each after her retirement as she worked effortlessly within the Woodland Village community and served as a Substitute Teacher in the Charles County Public Schools' system. Throughout Rachel's life, especially the latter stage, which was at the rehabilitation center, which she named "Her Castle," she demonstrated remarkable yearning for a joy-filled and productive life as she serenaded and engaged in meaningful activities with her fellow residents. Rachel was truly a woman of dignity, grace, poise, and humor, who enjoyed and loved her life and the life of others. We will forever be blessed with Rachel Wills' favorite quote, regardless of the circumstances in life, "Just keep on living." Rachel leaves to cherish her memory the following: Children: Wendy Queen (beloved Kilroy), Mary Thompson (Larry), Sheron Bowman (Rufus), and Allex Wills (Joan); Daughter-In-Christ: Carolyn White; Grand Children: James Jr., Kydese, Tonya, Anton, Tamara, Amber, and Allex Jr. (AJ), Great Grand Children: Kavina, Nyah, Anaijah, Demetri, Mijaeya, Kyli, Kydese Jr., Kamijah, Kory, Amari, Angel, Jayden, Christopher James, Jordynn, and Joshua; Siblings: Nathaniel Warren (Annie) and Madeline (Warren) Johnson; God Children: Roger Lee Warren, Jr. and Katrina (Warren) Thompson; Sisters-In-Law: Betty Jean Wills, Viola C. Wills, Louise Smallwood, Doris Cole (Lloyd), Alice "Sis" Wills, and Mary "Dolly" Lancaster; Granddaughter-In-Law: Kelly Queen; Brother-In-Law: Russell Savoy; and a hosts of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Rachel will be joined in the heavenly realm with: her Parents, Joseph R. Wills, and Siblings (James Sr., Aljuren, Irene, Laura, Roland, Martha, Mary, Yancey, and Christene). Family and friends will unite on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 9:30 am until time of service 11:00 am at Greater Spiritual Fellowship Community church, 106 Ellerbe Dr., Indian Head, MD. Interment immediately following at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
