RAMONA PATRICIA BOWEN's Obituary
Ramona Patricia Bowen, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 68.
Born on November 12, 1957, in Florida, Ramona was the beloved daughter of George and Sheila Slay. Throughout her life, she was known for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her family and friends.
Ramona dedicated many years of service as tax manager of the Maryland Comptroller's Office, where she was respected for her professionalism, leadership, and commitment to serving others.
Family was the center of Ramona's life. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She especially loved cheering from the sidelines as her grandchildren played sports and took great pride in each of their accomplishments. In quieter moments, she found joy in reading and binge-watching her favorite television shows. Ramona also faithfully served in her church and was always willing to care for and help those around her. Her compassion, generosity, and loving spirit touched countless lives.
Ramona is lovingly survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Bowen Fields (Dayne Fields); her brother Luke Slay (Wendy Slay), brother Robert Slay Jr. (Debi Hatcher); and her cherished grandchildren: Katlynn Danielle Cooksey, Camryn Taylor Mitcheltree, Alec Mitcheltree, Jordyn Avery Cooksey, Joshua Logan Cooksey, James Trey Cooksey, Malaya Jashell Hagan, and Dashawn Tidlus Stinnie. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Samuel George Slay, Olivia Organa, and Hailey Moroskey, along with many other loving relatives and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sheila Slay; her brother, James Slay; her grandchild, Xavier Iossif Gressis; and her niece, Tara Lindsay Slay.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Prayers will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Ramona's life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown, Maryland. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ramona’s memory to Precede Foundation to support Pancreatic Cancer Research.
