Raymond J. Arcement's Obituary
Raymond (Ray) "Bud" J. Arcement, Jr. passed away on December 11, 2024, at his residence in Cobb Island, Maryland. He was 76 years old.
Ray was born in Houma, LA on April 1, 1948 and was married to Barbara Jean Kohlmeier on July 10, 1970, in Columbus, NE.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Raymond J. Arcement, Sr., Ora Ann Arcement (née LeBouef), and his first wife Barbara Arcement. They were married for 43 years.
He is survived by his second wife Margaret (Marty) Arcement. They married June 9, 2018, in Bryans Road, MD. Ray is also survived by his children Eric Arcement (Victoria), Stacey Welchner (Brian), and Nicole Patterson (Michael, deceased); his grandchildren Kyle, Zackery, Nathan, and Luke; his brother John Arcement (Terry) and sister Phyllis Detiveaux.
Ray joined the Navy in 1968 and served for over 20 years as a Cryptologic Technician. He was stationed around the world serving in California, Guam, Virginia, Japan onboard USS Oklahoma City, Florida, Azores, Hawaii, and Maryland. He retired in 1989 at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He started working for the federal government as a communications systems manager and retired in 2013 to care for his wife.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved time with his family and extended relatives. He and Marty enjoyed their retirement life RVing, cruising, traveling, and sightseeing. He most enjoyed the Navy Reunions with his fellow shipmates.
Ray was an Usher at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior and loved to greet and tease his church family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 4-7 PM and at the Lutheran Church of our Savior, 7365 Indian Head Highway, Bryans Road, MD 20646, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM until time of funeral services at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland.
