Raymond Franklin Canter's Obituary
Raymond Franklin Canter, 82, of Hughesville, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Calvert Health Medical Center in Prince Frederick.
Born on November 23, 1941 at the homeplace in Hughesville, he was the son of the late Robert Edward Canter and Nellie Erma Canter. Ray was an Iron Worker with the Iron Workers Union Local Number 5. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed working and cutting trees with his son Robert.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brothers Oscar Canter, LeRoy Canter, Halvor Canter, Donald Canter, Thomas Canter, Otis Canter, and Edwin Canter. His sisters Mary Long, Dorothy Welch, Barbara Canter, and Catherine Davis.
Ray is survived by his son Robert Christopher Canter and his wife Joanna; daughters Robin Marchant and her husband Christopher Druin, Vicki Canter; grandchildren Cody, Linda, Amanda, George, Jessica, and John; great grandchildren Paxton and Palmer; sister Erma White; great niece Sharon Kalinowski and John White.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 6PM until time for a Celebration of Life Service at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ray’s memory made be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
