Richard L. Lambdin's Obituary
Richard Leroy Lambdin, age 86, of Bryans Road, MD, passed away at his daughter’s home in Smoke Hole, WV, on Monday, May 16, 2022. He was born on January 23, 1936, the son of the late Charles Adam Hurdle and Dorothy Olivia (Hurley) Hurdle. On October 13, 1956, he married Alice Jean (Mills) Lambdin, who survives in Bryans Road, MD.
Mr. Lambdin was a graduate of Lackey High School in Indian Head, MD and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Safeway Foods and was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local #400. He loved his Ford Mustang and Washington sports teams including the Redskins, Capitals, and Nationals. In addition to his passion for watching baseball, he also enjoyed playing both locally and internationally while he was enlisted in the Army. One of his greatest joys was traveling the United States in his motor home, including a trip to Alaska, with his beloved AJ by his side and their faithful companion JC at their feet. However, more than anything else, his greatest and abiding love was for his family.
Richard is survived by: a daughter, Christina McDonough (and her husband Jim) of Smoke Hole, WV; a son, Richard M. Lambdin (and his wife Jamie) of Whispering Pines, NC; a sister, Janice Petrosh of Eldersburg, MD; 5 grandchildren, Nichole Lambdin, Jason McClaugherty, Brittany Lambdin, Hugh McClaugherty, Justin Danielson; and one great-granddaughter, Ava McClaugherty.
In honoring Richard’s wishes his body will be cremated. Interment will be held at a later date at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
