Richard McGovern Morgan's Obituary
Richard McGovern Morgan, a loving father, caring grandfather and devoted husband passed away suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the age of 83. He was the son
of the late William and Katherine Morgan. Richard was born on March 17, 1942 in Knoxville, TN.
Richard “Captain” Morgan grew up in Indian Head, MD and raised his family in Marbury, MD. He worked most of his life as an Auto Body Mechanic. He enjoyed his weekly visits with his Amish friends and other local spots and Gray’s Brothers store. He loved his family, children, and animals. Richard especially loved his cat, Sam. He could not see a dog or cat without going up to it and petting it and feeding them. He also had a special way with kids. They absolutely loved his humor. Richard was revered by his grandkids, Jennifer, Dylan and Kai.
Richard would do anything to help a friend or neighbor. He was the most social person you would ever meet and would never be caught without a huge smile and a joke to go with it. He was always available to help with home projects with his kids, Ricky and Mike.
Richard is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Morgan and her husband, Aubrey, his sister, Helen (Patsy) Morgan and her husband John Johnson, his brothers William Jr and his wife Mae and Dr. Robert Morgan.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Ann Morgan, and his sons, Michael (Linda) and Ricky (Avani). Additionally, he is survived by his brothers, Johnny Morgan, Joe Eddie Morgan, Donald Morgan and his wife Pat, Mike Morgan and his wife Diane and his sisters Linda Morgan Littlejohn (Eddie Littlejohn-deceased), Theresa Morgan and Nancy Morgan. Additionally, he is survived by many in laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 12 PM. Burial will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
