e is survived by his parents Richard C. and Barbara T. Murphy of Stuart's Draft Va ; former wife Cecilia Moran Murphy of Hollywood, Md and mother of their 3 sons, Richard Clark III "Richie"(Erin) of Port Republic, Md, Wesley James of Huntingtown, Md, and Kenneth Levi of Annapolis, Md; 2 sisters, Molly (Kevin) Hockaday of Urbanna, Va, and Amy (Jeff) Kirby of Nanjemoy, Md; 3 grandchildren, Jetta, Aiden and Kellan Murphy of Port Republic, Md; 3 nieces, Jaime Divins of Hollywood, Md, Samantha and Sarah Kirby of Nanjemoy, Md ; and 2 great-nephews, Dylan Denton and Aaron Reppel of Hollywood, Md.
Rick was born on March 30, 1958 in Washington DC. He grew up in Hollywood, Md., graduated from Great Mills High School in 1976, and then began his military career in the U.S. Navy where he retired as Chief Petty Officer E7 after 18 ½ years of service. He went on to work until his 2nd retirement from Zanhisers Marina in Solomons Island, Md.
Anyone who knew Rick knew of his natural ability to fix anything - especially mechanical. At any given time you could find a complete motor in parts on the kitchen table. He loved sailing, fishing, hunting, trucks and motorcycles, and only Rick could think it was a good idea to ride a motorbike across a swinging bridge.
Rick was loved by many and will be greatly missed, but there is joy, hope and comfort in knowing that he is at peace with the Lord.
The family would like to thank Huntt's funeral home in Waldorf, Md for their services. In addition, the family will have a private ceremony at the Trinity Memorial Gardens cemetery in Waldorf, Md on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warriors Project or the charity of your choice.
