Robert “Bob” Paul Eckstein Sr. November 26, 1937 – November 29, 2025
Robert “Bob” Paul Eckstein Sr., 88, of Lusby, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. Born on November 26, 1937, in Washington, D.C., Bob lived a long, dedicated, and deeply family-centered life.
Bob was the son of Carroll and Elvera Eckstein. He is preceded in death by his beloved son Anthony Eckstein and his brothers Richard and Donald Eckstein. He is survived by his children, Robert Paul Eckstein Jr. and Lisa Eckstein; his grandchildren Stashia Alvarez (Edgar), Matthew Eckstein (Heather), Nicole Burger and Anthony Kenote; as well as his great-grandchildren Maricella, Yulissa, Edgar Jr., Lovely, Atlas, Kaleb, Austin, Wyatt, Cameron, Carson, Isaiah, Mariah, Iyana, Maliyah, Messiah, and Mia. Bob’s family was the center of his world, and nothing brought him more joy than supporting them in all they did.
At the age of 17, Bob began working for The Washington Post, where he spent the majority of his life devoted to his career as a mailer until his retirement. His strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication were known and respected by all who worked alongside him.
Bob had a passion for archery and enjoyed countless hours practicing and sharing his love for the sport. He never missed a chance to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events—he was always there, in the stands, the loudest supporter and the proudest fan.
Kind-hearted, generous, and always ready to lend a helping hand, Bob touched many lives with his compassion. He was also a devoted animal lover, finding joy and comfort in the companionship of animals throughout his life.
In honor of Bob’s love for animals, the family asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter.
Bob will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His interment with Army Honors was will be on January 17, 2026, 1:00pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
