Robert Ray Richardson's Obituary
Robert Ray Richardson peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by family on March 26, 2024. Born on July 2, 1949 in New Orleans, LA. He was the son of the late Dewey Winford Richardson and the late Maxine Gray Richardson.
Robert retired from the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation as a Supervisor I for Charles and St. Mary’s counties in 2005 after more than 32 years of service.
Youth baseball was his passion. He chartered the Babe Ruth Baseball League for youth in St. Mary’s County and served as coach, umpire, District Commissioner and President of the League providing over 30 years of community service to the youth and citizens of St. Mary’s County. He also coached youth basketball at the First Baptist Church of Waldorf in Charles County. Robert was known by many names including Bob, Bobby, and Top Gun. He was admired and dearly loved by many young athletes he coached and mentored and was also an avid golfer. Above all, he was a man of great faith in his Lord and Savior.
Robert enjoyed every minute of being Grandpa to Lily, Pearl, Maxine and Hazel whom he affectionately referred to as the four little redheads. They brought great joy and laughter to him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Maxine, father Dewey, and brother-in-law John Grimes and is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Richardson of Mechanicsville, MD and children Megan (Jude), Robby (Laura), sister Bonnie and grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces Victoria and Tina (Ron).
Visitation on April 3rd, 2024 from 10am-11:30am with a funeral service directly following at First Baptist Church of Waldorf, 10045 Bunker Hill Drive, Waldorf, MD 20603-3809. Interment will take place after the funeral service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
