Ruth Larsen's Obituary
Ruth Larsen, 88, passed away peacefully on 2/22/26, surrounded by the love of her family. Ruth was born and reared in Iowa, went to college in Nebraska and met the love of her life Glenn. After teaching in a one-room school, she and her husband set out for Washington, DC. They had three darling daughters who she and her husband gave an idyllic, magical childhood. Family was the center of her world. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether sharing stories, memories of trips to the beach, playing games, watching fashion shows in the Target dressing room, playing street hockey, football in her younger days, going to National Arboretum, going out to dinner, coloring cardboard houses, or simply sitting together in laughter, she treasured every moment with them. Her love created a foundation that will continue to guide her family for generations. A faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, she served for many years as a Sabbath School teacher. She was an active and cherished member of her church community. She came from a large family and she enjoyed close connection with her sisters and brothers. In her later years, one of her favorite pastimes was talking to relatives and old friends on the phone. She leaves behind her three daughters who will miss her dearly, along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, extended family and many cherished friends and devoted caregiver whose lives were touched by her love and grace. Her legacy is one of selfless love, and a family forever strengthened by her example. A private service will be held Friday, March 6.
