Ruth Mae Sanford's Obituary
Ruth Mae (Lambert) Sanford, age 96, passed away on June 25, 2022 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Ruth was born on August 8, 1925 in Tazewell, Virginia to the late Oscar Lambert and the late Beulah Lambert. She was a longtime member of the Suitland Road Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Ruth was a retired Clerk with Amtrak in Washington, D.C. In her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, writing poems, gardening, and attending senior luncheons with her friends. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly around the holidays.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, James William Ferguson; her second husband, Arthur Ray Sanford; two sons, Richard Ferguson and David Sanford, and a grandson, Craig Crowl; and two brothers, Vernon Lambert and Donald Lambert.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Sandoval, Marjorie Crowl, and Janet Hemming; one stepson, Arthur Sanford, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Ruth will be private. She will be buried at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Maryland on July 5, 2022.
