Vonna Belle Catterton's Obituary
Vonna Belle Catterton, age 84, of Severn, MD, passed away peacefully on 1/16/2024. She shared 24 years of happy marriage with her late husband, William L. Catterton, who passed away on 3/21/2006. Vonna enjoyed her time with her co-workers while working at Washington Gas and The Coordinating Center. She also was a major supporter of her husband’s two businesses, W.L. Catterton Construction and Tri-County Safe and Lock.
Vonna was born on 10/9/1939, to the late Viola M. Bailes Grimmett Murphy (mother) and Cecil H. Grimmett (father). Vonna was preceded in death by Robert Murphy (step-father), James W. Catterton (step-son), Cecil H. Grimmett, Jr. (brother), John T. Catterton (step-son), Karen L. Roper (daughter), and Jeffrey D. Roper (son-in-law).
Vonna is survived by her two sisters, Vertie Sliger and Vada Ritchie; two step-daughters, Linda Predmore and Pam Gallagher; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Vonna’s favorite times were spent with her beloved family dancing and singing at the Moose Lodge, traveling to West Virginia to visit family, celebrating birthday parties, attending fun-filled holiday cookouts, and watching the Washington Commanders.
Vonna had a generous heart, sharp mind, and uplifting personality. Those who knew and loved her will always remember and dearly miss her warm heart, cheerful smile, and generous spirit.
